Florianopolis inaugurated in 2014 the first Brazilian public building with an integrated photovoltaic plant your building and connected to the network – the Megawatt Solar project eletrosul.

With 1MWp capacity, more than 4000 solar modules installed on the roof of the building and on the roof of the parking lots generate an average of 1.1 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of about 680 homes.

The project was developed with the support of the Ideal Institute of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and of German Cooperation for Sustainable Development, through the GIZ and KfW.
